Open call: the Journalist in Residence

The initiative, hosted by the EUI's Max Weber Programme, aims to foster dialogue between researchers and journalists.

Experienced journalists with interest in social or political sciences, history, economy, or law are invited to apply for a residency at the EUI for up to twenty days, to engage with Max Weber Fellows and gain insights into their research.

The 'Journalist in Residence' is targeted at freelance and staff journalists who are interested in scientific journalism in social sciences and humanities and have at least five years of media work experience. A good knowledge of written and spoken English is expected.

The eligibility is limited to journalists with a background from and a journalistic impact in at least one of the eligible countries:

• Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo⁽¹⁾, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.

The stay can take place at any time between 30 September and 29 November 2024, and can last a minimum of two days and a maximum of twenty days.

The Max Weber Programme supports free and independent journalism. There is no expectation that the participating journalists will report on the Institute's research activities.

The deadlines to apply are 30 June 2024 and 30 September 2024.
